October 20 news, according to Reuters citing people familiar with the matter, OpenAI is accelerating its fundraising process, striving to lock in investor subscription commitments before competitor Anthropic's expected mid-November listing. After this round of funding, the ChatGPT developer's valuation is expected to exceed $1.4 trillion.

The report said the company plans to raise about $30 billion from investors, with existing investors SoftBank Group and Abu Dhabi-based MGX both participating. The two AI companies are competing for funds from sovereign wealth funds and large institutional investors.

Reuters reported that OpenAI pitched investors an annualized revenue of $50 billion; the company expects that with the launch of the GPT-6 Astra model, annualized revenue will reach $70 billion by the end of the year.

Anthropic's third-quarter revenue rose from $11.6 billion in the second quarter to $16.8 billion, but monthly growth slowed, and the market has begun to question its valuation.

Accelerating fundraising helps OpenAI secure funds before Anthropic discloses its financial data, avoiding market comparisons of the two companies' performance. The report shows that after raising $122 billion in March this year, OpenAI's valuation reached $852 billion.
