Goldman Sachs narrows Claude Code and GitHub access to engineers
In internal guidance updated in October, Goldman Sachs restricted Anthropic's Claude Code and Microsoft's GitHub to engineers only; traders and bankers can no longer use these tools, while Strats retain access. Bloomberg reported that the move stems from an assessment of productivity and risk, as some traders had previously used these tools to monitor client trading flows, model market movements, and produce graphic and text materials. In April of this year, Goldman Sachs had already suspended Claude for bankers in Hong Kong due to contract terms, and Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are both lead underwriters for Anthropic's IPO.
