Perplexity brings gpt-live-1 to the voice mode of its Mac app
Perplexity has upgraded the voice mode of its Mac app, switching its underlying model to OpenAI's gpt-live-1 voice model, which can handle multiple Computer sessions simultaneously within a single voice session, launch new tasks, and create and manage Projects. Perplexity also recently launched the ability to run AI directly on Mac locally, supporting offline mode and privacy-focused AI workflows.

Earlier this year, OpenAI unveiled its gpt-live-1 voice model. This includes the ability for the model to listen to you while it speaks. Starting today, Perplexity has upgraded its Mac app voice mode by using gpt-live-1 under the hood.

Separately, Perplexity recently launched the ability to run AI directly on the Mac without relying on cloud models. This unlocks offline mode as well as privacy-focused AI workflows.
