Vercel AI Gateway launches virtual model aliases
Vercel has launched virtual models on AI Gateway: use a single virtual model ID to centrally manage model strings and configurations across agents, instantly switch to new models, and enforce zero data retention. Guillermo Rauch commented that this is like "DNS for models"—the alias resolves to a certain model, thereby providing traffic scheduling capabilities, which can prevent teams from getting stuck on old model versions, save costs, and eliminate "decision paralysis."
