Waymo says it will carefully adjust operations in winter to reduce service interruptions
In describing its measures for dealing with winter weather, Waymo said that the Waymo Driver can recognize real-time changes in road grip and adjust steering, braking, and acceleration. It also reproduces scenarios such as black ice and whiteout weather through simulation testing, and uses heaters and tiny wipers to keep sensors clean. Waymo also said it will determine when to slow down, limit service, or suspend trips, and will work to reduce disruptions for passengers who rely on its service. The latest availability information can be viewed in the Waymo app.
