Anthropic Hands Agent Skills Over to the Agentic AI Foundation
Anthropic has transferred ownership of Agent Skills to the Agentic AI Foundation, a neutral organization under the Linux Foundation; MCP underwent the same transfer earlier. In Agent Skills, each skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md instruction file along with scripts or reference files loaded on demand. Anthropic says the standard has been adopted by more than 70 platforms, including ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor and VS Code, with 1 million skills published cumulatively and nearly 280 million installs.
