Tangled Launches the First Truly Federated Code Hosting Platform

Tangled has launched what it calls the first truly federated code hosting platform, allowing users to host code on their own servers and collaborate seamlessly with other instances. The new frontend has been switched to Svelte and deployed to edge nodes, accompanied by bobbin, an in-memory indexing service written in Rust that covers 11+ regions; knot2 has been rewritten in Rust and stores issues, PRs, comments, and more as COBs within the repository. Self-hosted users need to upgrade to v1.20.0, and private repositories, CLI, SDK, and agent skills will roll out in the coming weeks.
