AMD Extends FSR 4.1 Support to RX 6000 Series
On October 20, AMD announced that it is extending FSR 4.1 support to the Radeon RX 6000 series, Ryzen AI Max processors, and Xbox consoles, with the technology available through AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition version 26.10.1. FSR 4.1 uses an INT8 model; AMD improved hardware compatibility by simplifying and optimizing the compute architecture, and designed a separate lightweight model for handheld devices. This update also adds support for the Vulkan 3D graphics API and improves frame pacing.

AMD announced on Oct. 20 local time that it is expanding support for FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4.1.
AMD has extended FSR 4.1 support to the Radeon RX 6000 series, Ryzen AI Max processors and Xbox consoles. FSR is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based graphics enhancement technology for AMD graphics processing units (GPUs). The technology is included in version 26.10.1 of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
Through FSR 3, AMD relied on algorithm-based technology designed for broad compatibility. FSR 4, unveiled at CES 2025, shifted to machine learning-based AI, similar to Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). FSR 4.1 delivers significantly improved image quality compared with previous generations.
FSR 4 initially launched in 2025 exclusively for the Radeon RX 9000 series. Support expanded to the Radeon RX 7000 series in July 2026. The technology uses an 8-bit integer (INT8) model. AMD has now further simplified and optimized its computational architecture to expand hardware compatibility.
The RX 6000 series is a graphics card lineup first introduced in 2020. Ryzen AI Max processors are AMD accelerated processing units (APUs) that integrate a central processing unit (CPU), GPU and neural processing unit (NPU).
FSR 4.1 also supports handheld devices equipped with Ryzen AI 9 laptop processors, Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A processors. AMD has separately designed lightweight FSR 4.1 models optimized for these hardware specifications. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S consoles are also supported.
AMD also announced the release of FSR 4.1, support for Vulkan, a standard 3D graphics API, and improvements to frame pacing, which makes the display intervals of generated frames more consistent.
