OpenAI Launches In-House Git Backend Pando, Cutting Push Latency by About 80%
OpenAI has built Pando, a new Git backend for ultra-large monorepos, cutting push latency by about 80% while engineers and agents continue to use Git as before; it now handles nearly 1 PB of Git data per day. Greg Brockman said the team insisted on continuing to use Git, so enabling Pando requires no change to the developer experience, and they are considering opening the backend to external use.

Body
Pando is a Git backend which can scale to very large monorepos. We took the hard road of continuing to use Git, which means we could enable Pando with no change to devex. Considering providing this to others, let me know (gdb@openai.com) if you'd be interested.
