Pichai says AI agents working around the clock is an advantage

On October 22, 2026, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that AI agents working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without interruption is an advantage. According to a report the same day, Pichai delegates information-gathering work to AI agents, which compile developments from the past 24 hours, summarize progress in Google's AI model research and development and the use of computing resources, and follow up on discussions in multiple internal chat groups. Pichai said that AI agents work around the clock in the cloud and can understand prior work progress and pick up where they left off. The report also mentioned that an engineering director at Cisco who manages more than 10 AI agents said that supervising these agents requires constantly switching tasks, and working hours have not been shortened. At present, this claim has only this one source report, and there have been no subsequent developments.
