Meta's personal AI agent Muse launches in Japan, its first market outside North America

Meta launched its personal AI agent Muse in Japan on October 23, available on iOS, Android, and muse.ai; Japan is the first overseas market following the initial launch in North America in September this year. Muse can make plans and execute tasks on the user's behalf, continuing to work even after the app is closed, and it requests user confirmation before actions such as sending emails or purchasing products; Meta is also advancing connector integrations with Japanese local services such as Mercari, Money Forward ME, and Ticket Pia, as well as Gmail, Google Calendar, Instagram, Stripe, Shopify, and Trip.com. Meta says it runs in an isolated Muse Secure VM, with network access managed by a separate Sentinel agent; basic features are free, while the Power plan costs $20/month and the Maximum plan costs $100/month.

NVIDIA Confidential Computing Adds Confidential Bare Metal Deployment Option

NVIDIA is expanding its confidential computing capabilities with the launch of a Confidential Bare Metal deployment option, enabling frontier model builders to retain control over their models and data when running sensitive workloads on third-party dedicated infrastructure. This offering, together with the existing Confidential Containers and Confidential Virtual Machines, forms three deployment forms, and adds controls such as data protection in transit, platform integrity measurement, and hardware-level access restrictions. Cohere plans to integrate it into Cohere Model Vault, Google Cloud will support the capability on A4X Max instances based on GB300 NVL72, and providers such as CoreWeave, Microsoft Azure Infrastructure, and Nebius also support related deployments.

Google and Meta jointly launch TorchTPU, enabling PyTorch to run natively on TPUs

Google and Meta's PyTorch teams have collaborated to launch the open-source project TorchTPU, providing a native PyTorch backend for Google TPUs; migration only requires changing model.to("cuda") to model.to("tpu"). The project supports both eager and torch.compile modes, adds a new DeferAndFuse eager mode, covers about 450 Aten operators, and has been verified to run out of the box on 4,917 Hugging Face models, with a Tier 1 pass rate of 98% and Tier 2 numerical consistency relative to GPUs of 97%. According to the official announcement, it has already been used in the inference and training production workloads of some major Google Cloud customers, and is integrated with vLLM, SGLang, TorchTitan, Ray, and TorchRec.

Meta's Open-Weight Model Muse Spark Open Launches on Fireworks Serverless API

Fireworks launched Meta's open-weight model Muse Spark Open on the day of release. It is an 816B-parameter MoE model that activates 42B parameters per token, with a 1M-token context window, targeting long-horizon coding and agentic tasks. Fireworks says it ranks first among 75 models on Vals AI's Harvey Legal Agent Benchmark leaderboard with 25.4%, nearly 4 times that of Claude Opus 5 (6.7%); on the Rogo Big Finance Bench it surpasses Claude Opus 5.5 at every difficulty level. On Fireworks, the model has zero data retention enabled by default, uses only US-based compute at no extra charge, and supports fine-tuning with serverless LoRA.
