TestingCatalog clarifies the usage limit differences between Claude Ultra and Max 20x

TestingCatalog clarifies the usage rules for Claude's new subscription plan Ultra: the old plan Max 20x had a 5-hour session quota of 20 times that of Pro and a weekly quota of 10 times that of Pro; the new plan Ultra removes the 5-hour session quota, while the weekly quota remains 10 times that of Pro. The post cites an explanation from mike overell, the product lead for Claude subscriptions, who said that Ultra removed the 5-hour limit to prevent users from being cut off mid-session, that the plan is being rolled out in stages starting that day, and that temporary limits will be applied before account verification is completed.

I lead product for Claude subscriptions. Today we're renaming our Max plans, and I want to explain why. When we launched our top plan in April 2025, it had a single limit: 5 hours. It gave you 20x Pro's limit, so we called it Max 20x. When we added weekly limits to Max 20x, we set them to 10x Pro's (the 5-hour limit stayed at 20x). I get that some new users assumed 20x applied to both limits. We could have done better here, and I'm sorry. The Ultra plan keeps the weekly limit (10x Pro), but we're removing the 5-hour limit so you can keep building without getting blocked mid-session. This starts today and rolls out in stages. To help prevent fraud and abuse, a temporary limit applies until we've verified your account. You'll get an email when your limit is removed. We've got more cooking and can't wait to share it. Thanks for building with Claude 🙏

Peter Yang will share AI skills at an Amplitude offline event

Peter Yang said he will partner with Amplitude and Codex to host his first offline meetup, and will share his best AI skills and workflows for the first time. He also mentioned that human connection is something AI can never replace.

Next week we're showing how to build self improving products. We've been running an automated self improvement engine on our website and product that comes up with opportunities based on analytics, session replay, and customer feedback data. We want teach other builders how to do this themselves! We're hosting @petergyang, Tony Deng from OpenAI, and our own @Jacob__Newman at Amplitude HQ on Wednesday, November 4. They'll demo what they're building with Codex and Amplitude, their workflows, and where humans still need to intervene. If you're building products with AI, come see it in action and bring your questions. Wednesday, November 4, 5:30-8:30pm PT. In person in San Francisco at the Amplitude office. OpenAI will restrict ChatGPT from providing teenagers with details about weapons and security systems

OpenAI will prevent ChatGPT from providing teenagers with details about practical weapons and security systems, even when the question appears harmless. For all users, ChatGPT can automatically end a conversation when it determines that someone appears to be obsessed with violence; repeated occurrences of this may lead OpenAI to temporarily suspend the account, and it is building a reminder to notify parents when a teen account is suspended. All users will also receive fewer details about past mass attacks (including the weapons used and how they were obtained). Because the teen restrictions depend on identifying minors, OpenAI says it has strengthened age prediction, moving users estimated to be under 18 into the teen experience; however, it has not published accuracy data for age estimation or violent obsession detection.

DoorDash: External AI agents have so far brought only a few hundred orders

DoorDash CEO Tony Xu said on the third-quarter earnings call that external AI agents have generated only a few hundred orders on DoorDash since launching, while the platform's total orders in the third quarter of 2026 approached 1 billion. Xu believes AI agents are better suited to "large purchases that require a long time to consider," while for simple tasks like ordering food, users will still open DoorDash directly.

Claude Sonnet 5 Autonomously Selects Gene Therapy and Completes Mouse Brain Surgery

The research team had Claude Sonnet 5 autonomously select a gene therapy, brain region, and injection coordinates in an epilepsy mouse model, and operate custom surgical equipment to complete the injection, with a licensed veterinarian approving the irreversible steps throughout. The agent selected one of 19 candidate therapies—a regimen that enhances inhibitory signaling pathways—cross-checked three papers and took the average to determine the injection coordinates, and made 32 observations via camera during the procedure. After a mid-procedure connection loss, it judged that the target location exceeded the device's range of motion and refused to continue; this judgment was later proven correct, and the team ultimately had to manually modify the code to proceed; the more capable Claude Opus 5.5 and Opus 5 refused to perform the surgery. Ocana-Santero said there was no prior precedent of an agent autonomously selecting a treatment and brain target and carrying it out in a living mammal; the mouse recovered well, the technical report has not yet been released, and the results have not been peer-reviewed.

OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic will adopt a unified AI crawling opt-out standard

OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic said they will adopt a new standard that lets publishers express their opt-out preferences to multiple AI companies at once. The shared policy token signal was proposed at the IETF by Kevin Kelley, Anthropic's standards technical lead, and will be written into websites' robots.txt files; currently, websites must set preferences separately for each AI company. Anthropic has already adopted the signal, Google and Microsoft plan to support it next year, and OpenAI says it will implement it within the next few months; Microsoft will also offer more granular controls, allowing publishers to opt out of AI training or AI grounding separately, while their sites will still appear in Bing search results.
