Dell CTO John Roese: The key to the AI operating model is not the model, but the enterprise's proprietary knowledge

Dell Global CTO and Chief AI Officer John Roese said that if enterprises merely deploy AI agents without changing their operating model, they will only be running their business the old way, resulting in a poor experience. Dell has spent nearly two years running fully autonomous agents internally, by having domain experts encode company practices into machine-readable Markdown skill files so that the agents work according to Dell's rules and preferences. Roese emphasized that an enterprise's moat is not the tools or even the models, but this proprietary knowledge, which should therefore stay in-house rather than be handed over to third parties.

Eka Robotics raises $150 million at a $14.5 billion valuation to build robotic hands with a sense of touch

Eka Robotics has completed a $150 million Series A funding round at a $14.5 billion valuation, led by Andreessen Horowitz and Fidelity's F-Prime. Its vision-force-action model uses force sensors in custom grippers to sense grip strength, allowing it to adjust its hold mid-grasp when an object slips. The robot can pick up about 1,500 objects per hour that are outside its training data, compared with a human baseline of about 600. The gripper costs less than $1,000 and is currently rated for 5 million work cycles; the company aims to raise that to 20 million, the standard for industrial robotic arms.

Cloudflare OS Launches Managed Service, Adds GitHub and Gmail Connections

Cloudflare has announced a managed service for its AI business platform Cloudflare OS, with waitlist registration now open. Cloudflare OS was open-sourced in August this year and can be deployed in Cloudflare environments, on-premises, or in the cloud. It supports integration with Cloudflare Workers AI as well as AI services from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and others, and has the ability to securely access enterprise internal data. Two features were added this time: first, connecting to GitHub repositories, allowing AI agents to add features, debug, view PRs, create commits, and push code based on repository code; second, strengthening the Google Workspace integration, so agents can read and search Gmail conversations, draft and send emails, and connect to Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
