Google Adjusts K-12 Education AI Policy: Gemini, NotebookLM and Search Off by Default

Google announced that starting in 2027 it will adjust its AI feature management policy for K-12 education users: in school-managed K-12 student accounts, Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom and Google Search will be off by default and will require active authorization by school administrators before use. Chris Phillips, Vice President of Google's education business, said that Search and AI have become deeply integrated, and that if schools completely disable AI features, students will be unable to access Google Search. Google also announced that it will bring Guided Learning into Google Classroom and plans to integrate it into Google Search for student accounts, starting with a pilot in some U.S. schools.

IT之家 11 月 4 日消息，当地时间 11 月 3 日，谷歌宣布将从 2027 年起调整面向 K-12（幼儿园至高中）教育用户的人工智能功能管理政策，学校管理员需要主动启用，学生账户才能使用 Gemini、NotebookLM、Gemini in Classroom 以及 Google Search 等相关服务。
根据谷歌官方公告，该公司将在与学校、教师、研究人员及政策制定者沟通后，调整教育产品的管理方式。新政策实施后，学校管理的 K-12 学生账户中，Gemini、Gemini Notebook、Gemini in Classroom 和 Google Search 将默认关闭，只有学校管理员主动授权后才能使用。谷歌表示，此举旨在让学校自行决定人工智能工具在课堂中的使用方式。
不过，这项政策也意味着学校无法在完全禁用 AI 的同时保留传统搜索服务。Google 教育业务副总裁兼总经理 Chris Phillips 在接受《纽约时报》采访时表示，搜索与人工智能已经深度融合。如果学校选择彻底关闭 AI 功能，学生将无法访问 Google Search，尝试使用搜索服务时，只会看到由学校提供的停用提示信息。
