Fueled by emerging industries such as AI and new energy, demand for domestically produced high-end industrial machine tools has surged. Orders at a Suzhou-based company for six-axis PCB drilling machines are already booked through the second quarter of next year, and output of its advanced series of equipment in the first half of the year exceeded twice that of the whole of last year. In the first half of 2026, revenue in China's machine tool industry reached 530.9 billion yuan, up 7.6% year on year, while total profit reached 19.6 billion yuan, up 110.8% year on year. Zhongtai Securities noted that Japan's Fanuc and Mitsubishi systems have been out of stock since April and the shortage is unlikely to be resolved in the short term, ushering in a window of opportunity for domestic substitution.
