Shanghai Putuo police have cracked a fraud case: since 2019, Jiang had been borrowing money from classmates and friends under the pretexts of technology investment, buying a house for marriage, and company cash flow, and fabricated excuses such as his father having cancer and passing away, defrauding a total of more than 1.7 million yuan, all of which he invested in the stock market and lost entirely. To increase credibility, he also used AI to generate a video of his father bedridden and posted it on WeChat Moments, while his father has always been alive and well. Jiang has been criminally detained in accordance with the law on suspicion of fraud.
