Westlake University Establishes World Model Research Center, Focusing on the Core Bottleneck of Physical Intelligence

On October 31, Westlake University established the Westlake World Model Research Center at its Yungu Campus. This is a university-level interdisciplinary research platform the university has set up for the field of physical intelligence. The center is headed by Yu Kaicheng as director and Jin Yaochu as chief scientist, and focuses on world models and physical intelligence. Its goal is to develop general world models that can understand physical laws, predict the consequences of actions, and continuously learn from real feedback.

IT之家 10 月 31 日消息，10 月 31 日，西湖世界模型研究中心在西湖大学云谷校区成立。这是西湖大学面向物理智能领域设立的校级交叉科研平台。
该中心由西湖大学工学院博士生导师、助理教授，人工智能企业 KMind 联合创始人兼首席科学家于开丞担任主任，由西湖大学人工智能讲席教授、人工智能系系主任金耀初担任首席科学家，并有多位 PI （首席研究员）共同承担各方向研究任务。
IT之家从官方介绍获悉，中心面向人工智能从语言认知走向物理交互的发展方向，聚焦世界模型与物理智能，致力于突破智能系统理解物理规律、预测环境变化和开展交互决策的核心瓶颈，打造具有国际引领性的物理智能学术高地与创新引擎。
中心以世界模型为核心研究方向，探索感知、认知、预测与行动相结合的智能体系，推动人工智能在真实环境中形成理解世界、推演未来与自主行动的能力。依托西湖大学的科研基础与交叉学科优势，中心将汇聚多领域研究力量，促进基础理论、关键技术与应用探索协同发展，研发能够理解物理规律、预测行动后果并在真实反馈中持续学习的通用世界模型，支撑我国在新一代人工智能领域的自主创新与前沿布局。
