LS Electric has signed a contract worth approximately 170 billion won to supply switchgear for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers operated by a major US technology company. The company has secured supply volumes for 2027 and is negotiating additional orders for 2028, along with other power equipment.
LS Electric announced on Oct. 19 that it had signed a long-term agreement (LTA) worth $125.23 million to supply power distribution solutions for North American data centers. The customer was not identified because of a confidentiality agreement.
The contract covers a two-year period from 2027 to 2028. The announced contract value represents deliveries scheduled for 2027, while the volume for 2028 will be determined through further negotiations with the customer.
The products covered by the agreement are 38-kilovolt (kV) high-voltage switchgear systems. Switchgear distributes incoming high-voltage electricity to equipment throughout a data center and protects facilities in the event of electrical faults.
LS Electric is also discussing additional supplies of low-voltage switchgear, distribution transformers and high-voltage ring main units (RMUs).
The company is expanding its US operations through LS Electric Utah in Cedar City, Utah, and its Bastrop Campus in Texas. It has established local capabilities covering sales, engineering, manufacturing and services to meet demand from North American data center customers.
“We will expand supplies of high-value-added power equipment for data centers to secure a stable revenue base and improve profitability,” an LS Electric official said.
