HD Hyundai Robotics Expands Physical AI Partnership With Palantir
HD Hyundai Robotics and Palantir have expanded their physical AI partnership. After introducing AI agents into the problem-solving process, the average task completion time dropped from 21.5 days to 7.9 days, a 63% reduction. The company expects robot programming costs to fall by more than 50% and aims to train field engineers into on-site solution experts who use AI to solve problems. The two sides will hold regular steering committee meetings with executive participation to continuously identify application scenarios with quantifiable results.

HD Hyundai Robotics is working with global AI software company Palantir Technologies to advance its physical AI solutions.
HD Hyundai Robotics said on Nov. 1 that it delivered a keynote presentation at Palantir's Sovereignty Bootcamp in New York. The event focused on protecting corporate data and critical business information while exploring ways to strengthen business competitiveness through AI.
The keynote was delivered by Ahn Sung-hwan, chief technology officer (CTO) of HD Hyundai Robotics. He outlined the company's physical AI adoption strategy and future vision, while sharing progress and results from its ongoing collaboration with Palantir.
The partnership focuses on transforming workflows and redefining the role of on-site engineers to deploy physical AI in industrial operations. It aims to integrate AI, simulation and engineering judgment into a unified process.
AI agents analyze existing robot programs and identify potential improvements, which on-site engineers then refine based on their experience.
On-site engineers will be trained as field solution specialists who define problems and use AI technology to implement optimal solutions.
HD Hyundai Robotics expects to reduce robot programming costs by more than 50%. Since introducing AI agents into problem-solving processes in August, the two companies have cut the average time required to complete tasks by 63%, from 21.5 days to 7.9 days.
The companies will hold regular steering committee meetings involving senior executives to discuss the direction and priorities of their collaboration. They will also continue identifying use cases capable of delivering measurable results.
"We will identify opportunities to solve on-site problems quickly and effectively and expand the scope of business applications," Ahn said.
"We are focusing our collaboration on projects that can deliver measurable results in a short period," said Ryan Taylor, chief revenue officer (CRO) of Palantir. "We will help HD Hyundai Robotics leverage its accumulated experience to secure a competitive advantage."
Palantir has expanded its collaboration with HD Hyundai affiliates since making a 24 billion won equity investment in HD Hyundai Oilbank in 2021. In January, it signed a software supply agreement worth hundreds of millions of dollars with HD Hyundai to support data-driven decision-making.
