Report: OpenAI Plans to Formally Adopt Google TPUs, Recruiting Engineers for Model Adaptation

Foreign media outlet The Information reports that OpenAI plans to formally adopt Google Cloud's TPU AI ASIC chips and has been recruiting engineers to lead model adaptation and optimization work on TPUs; people familiar with the matter say it plans to purchase Google TPUs. Google TPUs once played an important role in OpenAI's early startup days, after which its compute shifted to NVIDIA, and it has successively purchased chips from AMD, Cerebras, AWS and others, while also developing its own Jalapeño. OpenAI said in July 2025 that it was conducting early testing of Google TPUs and had no plans for large-scale deployment for the time being.

IT之家 10 月 28 日消息，外媒 The Information 当地时间昨日报道称，OpenAI 计划正式导入谷歌 Google Cloud 的 TPU AI ASIC 芯片。
招聘启事显示，OpenAI 正在寻找领导该企业模型在 TPU 上适配优化工作的工程师。知情人士则称，OpenAI 计划采购谷歌 TPU 芯片。
谷歌 TPU 在 OpenAI 创业早期发挥了重要作用。不过随着业务的发展，这家生成式人工智能服务企业逐渐转向 NVIDIA 算力，后续又采购了 AMD、Cerebras、AWS 等的芯片，还在自研 Jalapeño。
