AUO Sells Two Central Taiwan Science Park Plants to TSMC for NT$38.8 Billion

AUO Chairman Paul Peng confirmed at an investor conference that the company will sell its L7 plant (a 7.5-generation plant) and L5C plant (a 5-generation plant) in the Central Taiwan Science Park to TSMC for NT$38.8 billion, with an estimated disposal gain of about NT$18.5 billion, bringing its asset revitalization work to a close. AUO had originally planned to sell its L3D/L5D plants in the Hwaya campus to Quanta for NT$19.7 billion, but the deal was terminated because the two sides failed to reach a consensus, and AUO will continue to look for buyers. The recovered funds will be invested first in MicroLED, optical communications, AI-related applications, and advanced semiconductor packaging, among other fields.

友达董事长彭双浪昨（29）日于法说会指出，将把旗下中科L7厂（7.5代厂）与L5C厂（5代厂），以388亿新台币售予台积电，预估处分利益约185亿新台币，友达活化资产作业也将在本案后告一段落。
本报8月中旬独家报道，友达将以逾300亿新台币出售中科二座厂予台积电，彭双浪昨天证实相关消息。不过，友达先前董事会通过将以197亿新台币处分华亚厂区内L3D厂 / L5D厂予广达案，因双方未达成共识，昨天决议终止出售案，未来将持续寻找合适买家。
广达原规划买进的两厂房将用于AI服务器后段组装、测试与验证，预计2027年第4季完成点交，进一步支应2028年后的AI产品订单需求。广达说明，由于双方未正式签订任何实体合约，因此此交易不成立不会对财务造成影响。
彭双浪并宣布，友达活化资产作业迄今，将告一段落。这次处分资产，主要为了聚焦轻资产营运模式、活化资产及优化财务结构。未来处分厂房回收的资金，将优先投入新事业与新技术，包括MicroLED、光通讯、AI相关应用及半导体先进封装等领域。
至于资金如何运用，彭双浪表示，除了投入新技术开发及未来量产所需设备外，友达也将运用部分资金改善财务结构，并维持稳定的股利政策。
谈到中科二期厂房卖给台积电，彭双浪说，该厂区目前仍持续生产中，后续还待完成停产、点交及行政程序，确定今年不会认列处分利益；至于明年或后年能否入账，尚待视相关程序进度而定。
