MIIT: China's humanoid robot complete products expected to exceed 100,000 units for the full year
Wei Wei, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at a State Council Information Office press conference that in the first half of this year, China's humanoid robot complete products exceeded 400 models with output surpassing 40,000 units, and are expected to exceed 100,000 units for the full year. Related products have been validated and deployed in more than 300 key scenarios, including warehousing and logistics, catering and retail, and home services. Next, the MIIT will tackle key common technologies, advance real-world training, and release the "National Humanoid Robot Industry Standards System Construction Guide (2026 Edition)."

On October 19, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the situation regarding accelerating the advancement of science and technology for commerce. Wei Wei, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced the application of China's humanoid robot industry in the consumer commerce sector.
He stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has thoroughly implemented the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, adhered to application as the driving force, focused on strengthening scenario openness, driven technological innovation and industrial development, deepened ecosystem building and open cooperation, and promoted the embodied intelligence industry represented by humanoid robots to achieve three "accelerations."
First, scale and volume are accelerating. In the first half of this year, China's complete humanoid robot products exceeded 400 models, with output exceeding 40,000 units, and are expected to exceed 100,000 units for the full year.
Second, innovation capacity is accelerating. We have pooled advantageous forces from industry, academia, and research to tackle a number of key technologies such as motion control, simulation, and tactile sensing for humanoid robots and embodied intelligence, driving continuous leaps in product performance.
Third, industrial application is accelerating. We have implemented a special action for real-world training of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence, promoting the accelerated verification and deployment of related products in more than 300 key scenarios such as warehousing and logistics, catering and retail, and home services, with the operational capability of complete machines and scenario adaptability continuing to improve.
He stated that next, we will coordinate development and security, follow the approach of "innovation-driven, application-guided, and ecosystem-coordinated," use humanoid robots as a "small entry point" to drive the development of the larger embodied intelligence industry, promote the accelerated implementation and application of related products and services, and inject new momentum into science and technology for commerce.
First, focus on "tackling technology." Targeting typical application scenarios in key fields, we will use the "open competition" mechanism to tackle key common technologies and form solutions adapted to specific operational needs.
Second, focus on "expanding scenarios." We will deepen real-world training, dig deeper into key scenario needs in industry, special operations, and people's livelihood, encourage commercial enterprises to open scenarios, collaboratively carry out training and verification, and form a batch of benchmark applications.
Third, focus on "building the ecosystem." We will release the "Guidelines for the Construction of the National Humanoid Robot Industry Standards System (2026 Edition)," develop and release standards urgently needed for scenario applications, build a high-level open-source community for humanoid robots, and promote the open sharing of innovation achievements.
Fourth, focus on "ensuring security." We will build a monitoring system for the humanoid robot industry, strengthen inspection and testing in product quality, network, and data security, carry out ethical governance and services, and safeguard high-quality development with high-level security.Editor in charge: Ge JiaImage editor: Shen KeProofreader: Shi YunThe Paper news tip-off: 021-962866The Paper, unauthorized reproduction is prohibited+1SaveI want to report#Ministry of Industry and Information Technology#complete humanoid robot products#embodied intelligence industryView more
