On October 29, 2026, Google added the ability to directly create, preview, and edit files to the Gemini app and web version, supporting documents (text, Markdown, LaTeX), PDFs, presentations, and spreadsheets. Users can select content and ask Gemini to modify text or visual elements, and can continue asking follow-up questions to make adjustments. Generated files can be downloaded in their original format, opened in apps such as Google Slides, or uploaded to Google Drive via the export button in the upper right corner. PDF preview and editing are supported on both web and mobile, while other formats are supported only on the web; this feature is available to all languages and users who can use the Gemini app.

Geminiではこれまでテキスト文書やコードをCanvasを使って編集する以外は、一度ダウンロードしたりGoogleドライブ等に保存しないと編集できなかった。今回の機能により、文書に加えてPDFやプレゼンテーションなどのファイルもチャット内で生成しプレビュー、編集が可能となる。
生成、編集できるファイルは文書（テキスト、Markdown、LaTeX）、PDF、プレゼンテーション、スプレッドシート。手書きのメモを簡単にPDFの学習ガイドに変換したり、手動で微調整ができるほか、編集したいところを選択してGeminiにテキストやビジュアルの変更を依頼したり、フォローアップの質問をして文書を調整することもできる。生成・編集したファイルはそれぞれの形式でダウンロードしたり、Googleスライドなどのアプリで開くことができ、右上の「エクスポート」ボタンからGoogleドライブにアップロードすることも可能。
PDFのプレビューと編集はWebとモバイルのGeminiアプリ両方でサポートされているが、その他の形式（ドキュメント、スプレッドシート、スライドデッキ、Markdownファイル、TXTファイル、コード）はWebのみのサポートとなる。
この機能は、Geminiアプリが利用可能なすべての言語で、個人アカウントのGoogleユーザーやGoogle Workspaceユーザーを含むすべてのユーザーが利用できる。
