Report: ByteDance to Broadly Restrict Employees' Internal Personal-Paid Use of Claude, Codex and Others

According to a tip from Dachang Ribao on November 3, ByteDance will broadly restrict the internal use of personal accounts for Claude, Codex and others; the notice, issued last week, sparked internal discussion. ByteDance Technical Vice President Hong Dingkun responded on the internal network that once L3-and-above content leaks, the consequences are very serious, and held that promoting a product should not rely on banning other options to force usage. Previously, in May 2025, ByteDance's security and risk control department had announced that starting June 30, 2025, third-party AI development software such as Cursor and Windsurf would be banned in batches, with Trae as the replacement.

爆料还称，通知自上周发出后，引起了内部一些讨论，字节跳动技术副总裁洪定坤还在内网进行了详细回应，比如“L3 及以上内容一旦有泄露，后果是非常严重的”、“推广产品不需要用这种禁掉其他选择强迫使用的方式，因为这样效果很差”。
据 The Information 今年 8 月报道，字节跳动创始人张一鸣在上个月的 Seed 团队全体会议上明确表示，即使意味着暂时落后于竞争对手，公司也不会依赖 AI 蒸馏技术来改进其模型。
