X.PIN relays benchmark data for Tianshu Zhixin's TianGai 300, claiming that its throughput in standard inference tests is 1.05 times that of Nvidia's H200. Under MoE workloads, performance improves by 15% and first-token latency drops by 30%, and when fine-tuning Qwen3-32B, its speed is 1.33 times that of the H100.
On its fiscal 2027 first-quarter earnings call, SanDisk said AI inference is reshaping the NAND flash supply and demand landscape, that customers have underestimated the NAND capacity needed to run AI infrastructure, and that its new business model order pipeline extends to 2030 and even further out. About 50% of bit shipments in fiscal 2027 have already been locked in under NBM agreements, and that is expected to rise to about two-thirds in fiscal 2028. SanDisk also announced that the first high-bandwidth flash (HBF) memory die has completed tape-out and entered the manufacturing stage, offering read bandwidth approaching HBM with NAND-class capacity for AI inference, with first samples planned for delivery in the next calendar year.

Oracle announced that it will deploy Google TPU on OCI, along with inference chips from OpenAI, Cerebras, SambaNova, and Positron AI, giving customers more computing options beyond Nvidia GPUs. Oracle says it will become the first hyperscale cloud provider other than Google Cloud to offer TPU; TPU and the Cerebras wafer-scale engine are planned to launch in 2027, and Positron Atlas is already available. At the same time, Oracle is expanding its partnership with Nvidia, with the Vera Rubin NVL72 system and Vera CPU now generally available on OCI.

OpenRouter announced that it will conduct child sexual abuse material (CSAM) screening on all inference requests during request processing; content flagged as suspected CSAM may be retained for manual review and reported and preserved in accordance with the law. Screening includes comparing content against hashes of known CSAM, and suspected content that does not match a hash but is flagged by classifiers will also be retained. This screening also applies to requests covered by OpenRouter's zero data retention (ZDR) policy; ZDR does not exempt the obligations to report and preserve in accordance with the law.

MiniMax officially responded to SGLang adding MiniMax H3 to the TPU support list of SGLang-TorchTPU, and said it looks forward to more open-source work on efficient video inference. SGLang said that SGLang-TorchTPU was built jointly by SGLang, the Google TPU team, and the Meta PyTorch team, has been used for production inference at Meta, and supports models including Muse Spark Open, GLM-5.3 Flash, Kimi K3, Ling 3.1 Flash, and MiniMax H3.
Metis Reasoning, a London AI company co-founded by former Google DeepMind research lead and AlphaGo co-creator Thore Graepel, has officially launched, seeking a compute-efficient path distinct from the frontier models of Anthropic and OpenAI, and is believed to have raised tens of millions of dollars in initial funding. The company has a team of 12 people, including researchers, mathematicians, robotics experts, and technology entrepreneurs. It believes that LLMs have fundamental limitations in reasoning, that results are difficult to verify, and that there is a lack of audit trails; its approach is more verifiable, more robust, and safer, and it says it has already achieved some positive results on frontier reasoning problems at a cost far below that of frontier models. Metis has not yet announced a release date for its first AI model.

The DeepLearning.AI weekly roundup covers several developments: OpenAI released three closed-source vision-language models, GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna, currently available only to about 20 U.S. government-approved organizations, with prices ranging from $5 to $1 per million input tokens; OpenAI says it will expand access in the coming weeks. Sakana AI released Fugu and Fugu-Ultra, two models that orchestrate other models and agents, claiming they surpass Claude Fable 5, Claude Mythos Preview, and GPT-5.5 on benchmarks such as Terminal-Bench 2.1 and GPQA-Diamond. Microsoft launched MAI-Thinking-1, its first reasoning model not distilled or fine-tuned from another vendor, using a MoE architecture with 1 trillion total parameters and 35 billion activated per token, claiming it surpasses Claude Sonnet 4.6 with 97.0% on AIME 2025. The roundup also introduced RoboReward, a robot reward model from teams at Stanford and Berkeley.
