HPE Launches ProLiant Gen13 Servers, Shifting Toward CPU-GPU Balanced Enterprise AI

HPE has launched its first four ProLiant Gen13 servers based on AMD's sixth-generation Epyc 9006 SP7 (codenamed Venice), targeting enterprise AI inference, agentic AI and analytics, virtualization, and other traditional workloads. The flagship DL585a Gen13 supports up to 8 GPUs and two Venice processors, will launch in March 2027, and will be compatible with GPUs from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel; the DL525 is a 1U single-socket system with up to 256 cores, launching in November 2026. Gen13 also introduces iLO 8 automated security and post-quantum cryptography readiness.

NVIDIA Fine-Tunes the Nemotron Family, Achieving Gold-Medal-Level Results at IOI and IMO

NVIDIA used the same fine-tuning recipe to turn Nemotron into a specialized model for competitive programming and math olympiad: at IOI 2026, Nemotron-3-Ultra-CC scored 535.4 points (out of 600), and the IMO system scored 30 points (out of 42), exceeding the official gold medal line. The recipe includes a strong base model, domain problems and reasoning trajectory data, SFT and RL post-training, and a generate-evaluate-improve inference loop. The related SFT and RL checkpoints, training datasets, the Nemotron-IMO-Bench benchmark, and the NeMo-Skills inference pipeline have been open-sourced on Hugging Face.

IEEE Spectrum White Paper: How Edge AI Moves Smart Cities Toward Cognitive Cities

IEEE Spectrum has released a white paper describing how edge AI and physical AI can move urban infrastructure from passive monitoring to sensing, reasoning, and acting in real time. According to the white paper, edge AI enables low-latency decision-making, keeps sensitive data within city boundaries, and reduces reliance on centralized cloud; computer vision, multimodal sensing, and generative and agentic systems can work together to support public safety, mobility, and infrastructure management. The paper also describes a layered edge architecture that distributes monitoring, planning, and action tasks across the far edge, regional, and cloud layers.
