Lead: On October 22, at the 2026 Meituan Waimai Industry Conference, Meituan officially released "Miaoshou Waimai Edition · Kangaroo Manager". Meituan Waimai General Manager Xue Bing announced that a free "AI Store Manager" that understands waimai operations will be provided to catering merchants nationwide
On October 22, at the 2026 Meituan Waimai Industry Conference, Meituan officially released "Miaoshou Waimai Edition · Kangaroo Manager". Meituan Waimai General Manager Xue Bing announced that a free "AI Store Manager" that understands waimai operations will be provided to catering merchants nationwide.
Data disclosed at the conference shows that in the first half of 2026, the waimai revenue growth of catering merchants exceeded the national average revenue growth of catering. Xue Bing said, "The waimai industry is entering a positive upward trend, and Meituan will help merchants do well in store formats, operations, and product innovation to achieve growth with more substance."
It is reported that "Miaoshou Waimai Edition" is an AI operations product recently developed by Meituan Waimai for merchants, with capabilities covering core scenarios such as business diagnosis, store inspection, product operations, and new store operations. It can combine Meituan and merchant data to provide analysis and suggestions, and assist merchants in execution and follow-up on results.
Previously, tens of thousands of small and medium-sized merchants had already taken the lead in using "Miaoshou Waimai Edition" in daily operations. A chicken clay pot restaurant in Yuanshi County, Hebei, used "Miaoshou Waimai Edition" for store diagnosis; after adjusting the menu and optimizing promotions, weekly order volume rose more than 30% month-on-month. In addition, "Miaoshou Waimai Edition" has also cooperated with more than 200 chain brands such as Guming, Yihotang, and Lanxiangzi. Taking Yihotang as an example, after use, the first-month output per store of newly opened stores increased by 25%.
Meituan's long-term accumulated operational experience and data from serving catering merchants enable "Miaoshou Waimai Edition" to apply AI capabilities to the specific business of each store. "We hope that through AI, professional waimai operational capabilities can reach every store, so that every store can receive more detailed and more suitable operational support for itself," said Xue Bing.
Xue Bing summarized product innovation, store format innovation, and AI innovation as the "waimai efficiency triangle," and Meituan will help merchants turn growth into profit. In store format innovation, Meituan launched a new-generation professional waimai store format, "Super Kitchen," to meet demand with larger space and richer categories, and to provide merchants with support in trade area site selection, product selection, kitchen layout, and workflow design. Through a production scheduling system, it connects meal preparation, production, and sorting. Data shows that Super Kitchen can reach thousands of daily orders. Taking the cooperative store with Guangzhou Restaurant as an example, meal preparation time was shortened from 18 minutes to about 8 minutes, and monthly profit reached 65,000 yuan. Xue Bing revealed that in the next year, Meituan Waimai plans to build the first batch of 1,000 Super Kitchens with more full-service restaurant brands.
