LG CNS is partnering with Japanese telecommunications company KDDI to jointly pursue artificial intelligence (AI) transformation projects across the Asia-Pacific region.

LG CNS said on Oct. 14 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KDDI to cooperate on AI transformation (AX) and digital transformation (DX) businesses.

KDDI is one of Japan's three largest telecommunications companies, providing mobile communications, internet, cloud and enterprise information technology (IT) services. It operates business-to-business (B2B) services across 19 locations in 15 Asia-Pacific countries.

Under the agreement, the companies will jointly identify new business opportunities in four areas: AI, smart cities, telecommunications, and integrated systems operations and management.

In AI, the companies will explore providing customized services to local businesses using LG CNS's agentic AI platform, AgenticWorks.

The partnership also covers robot-based business automation. The companies plan to develop services that integrate the management of robots across manufacturing, logistics and retail operations using LG CNS's robot transformation (RX) platform, PhysicalWorks.

In smart cities, LG CNS will combine its integrated urban control and intelligent transportation systems with KDDI's telecommunications infrastructure technology. The companies will explore jointly participating in urban modernization projects in Southeast Asia.

The companies will also assess cooperation opportunities in telecommunications and integrated systems operations and management. They will establish a working-level consultative group and have selected five priority markets: Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and China.
