Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dropped some loose change during his European tour. In Paris, he announced $2 billion in new investments across Europe due the following week, Bloomberg reports . Nvidia spent about $8 billion in Europe last year. Huang disclosed new stakes in French startups Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic, promoted open-weight models as a way for Europe to close its AI gap, and repeated his pushback against calls to slow things down . The tour also includes London and Berlin.

British AI safety research is getting a slice, too. Nvidia is donating $250 million in compute over five years to UK labs working on AI agent safety and security, among other gings, specifically BOLD (Oxford), SOFAIR (UCL), and Imperial College London. Their work covers open-ended learning, open-source AI architectures, and robotics safety. UK AI Minister Kanishka Narayan called it a "vote of confidence in our world-leading strength and expertise in AI research," likely a nod to the well-regarded output of the UK's government-backed AI Security Institute .
