Bloomberg: Digital Realty is offering every De Soto (Kansas) household up to $1,000 a year for 10 years in property tax or utility credits, funded by a $20M community fund, before its data center has full approval.
That fund works out to $2M a year, enough for 2,000 full credits in a city of about 7,000 people.
A rival developer, Beale Infrastructure, has already committed $9.4M for water infrastructure and up to $20M for public projects in the same town, so local benefit packages are now becoming part of the competition for hyperscale sites.
