Sendbird, an artificial intelligence (AI) communications company, and Upstage announced on Oct. 19 that they had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand enterprise adoption of Korean-developed large language models (LLMs) and commercialize AI agents.

The companies will integrate Sendbird's enterprise AI agent platform, Delight.ai, with Upstage's Solar LLM and deploy the combined technologies in real-world business operations. They plan to improve their respective products based on validation results and explore joint business opportunities in sovereign AI.

Sendbird said the partnership will expand the range of AI models available to its enterprise customers. By combining its experience in building and operating AI agents for global customers with Upstage's LLM technology, the company aims to increase enterprise use cases for Korean-developed LLMs and broaden their potential applications in international markets.

The companies will initially identify scenarios for deploying Solar in Sendbird's enterprise customer workflows and validate them in stages. They plan to evaluate key performance indicators, including response speed, task execution accuracy and customer satisfaction, in live service environments. Findings from the evaluations will be used to improve Delight.ai and Solar.

Sendbird will contribute its expertise in AI agent design, system integration, testing and operations, while Upstage will support model optimization for enterprise environments using its Solar technology. The use of evaluation results and related data will comply with customer contracts and data protection principles.
