How a weekend project turned into the largest open-source browser automation framework—and why we're just getting started.

Co-founder, CTO

A few months ago, Browser Use was just an idea weekend experiment to see if LLMs could navigate the web like humans. In just four days, we built an initial prototype and launched it on Hacker News (if you have an idea, just build it and launch it). The response was immediate and overwhelming, validating our belief that the future of AI-driven web automation was closer than most people realized.

Today, we are excited to share that we have raised $17 million to take this vision further. This funding round was led by Felicis Ventures, with participation from A Capital, Nexus Ventures, Y Combinator, Paul Graham, Liquid2, SV Angel, Pioneer Fund, and others.

Why We Raised This Round

The internet is the largest unstructured data source in the world, but interacting with it still requires human effort—clicking buttons, filling out forms, and navigating through websites manually. With the rise of LLMs and autonomous agents, this is changing. We are building the infrastructure that enables AI to interact with the web as seamlessly as humans do.

Most existing automation solutions rely on vision-based approaches, attempting to “see” the web like a human. These methods are slow, expensive, and unreliable. Our approach is different: we convert website interfaces into structured text that LLMs can process deterministically. This means:

Faster and more efficient execution than vision-based automation; Precise interaction with UI elements like buttons, dropdowns, and input fields; A more reliable system that avoids the errors of pixel-based navigation

Since launching, Browser Use has grown rapidly:

50,000 GitHub stars, making it one of the fastest-growing open-source AI projects; 15,000+ developers actively using and contributing to our tools; A wide range of real-world use cases, from login automation and data extraction to QA testing and CRM integrations

The Future of AI on the Web

The way we interact with the web is changing. AI-driven agents are becoming increasingly capable of performing complex tasks online, and we believe that within a few years, automated workflows will outnumber human interactions on the web. Our mission is to build the infrastructure that makes this transition possible.

We are growing our team and looking for exceptional engineers who want to push the boundaries of what AI can do. If you are passionate about the future of automation and AI, we would love to hear from you.

This is just the beginning.
