Apple Releases iOS 27.2 Release CandidateMonday October 19, 2026 10:26 am PDT by Juli Clover

Apple today seeded the release candidate of an upcoming iOS 27.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming a week after Apple released the fourth iOS 27.2 beta. Apple also seeded the iPadOS 27.2 RC.

Registered developers can download the beta updates by opting in under Settings > General > Software Update and selecting the iOS 27 developer beta.

The beta was used to test the new ‌iOS 27‌ Health app, but the features have since been removed and will be coming in a later update. It expands Siri AI to new languages including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

There are now profiles for the Apple TV app, Call Context supports anniversary alerts, and Apple Music has a new icon. The update also supports an alternative expanded prompt for App Tracking Transparency in the European Union.

Apple previously said the new ‌Siri‌ AI languages in iOS 27.2 would be available in October, so we are expecting iOS 27.2 to see a public launch before the end of the month. With the RC out, the update could come next week. Related Roundups: iOS 27, iPadOS 27Related Forum: iOS 27[ 64 comments ]

I upgrade my beta last night and was bummed it was removed Yeah, it's complete disappointment, these days Apple ships you a product with the advertised features shipped 6 months down the line or never at all. It's what Apple used to call out lesser companies for doing ironically, and they clearly haven't learnt the lesson from the Apple Intelligence fiasco. We have Apple Watch Series 12 launching with features on the watch that are missing from the health app (readiness score), and no audio intelligence either after they made such a big fuss of it (no great loss).

Customers don't understand or look at the fine print, they expect to have the software that sold them on the product. Seriously Apple hire more people, and start finishing software on time.Score: 13 Votes (Like | Disagree)podycust17 hours ago at 10:36 am

That hasn’t been my experience. Yes, it still needs some polish and refinement, but I’d say it’s way better than 26 was. I’m using it on a 17 PM and not an 18, but I don’t really have any stutters—nothing at all how iOS 26 was. I swear that some people always seem to have lag/stutter/slow Safari/battery drain. Neither rain nor snow nor a new phone or a new iOS version solves it for them. Meanwhile, I've had nearly every iPhone since 2007 and have been running betas only since 2020 and have never had unusual battery drain/keyboard lag/other lag/stuttering/etc. Maybe I've been lucky. My 18 Pro Max has been absolutely flawless since 27.0 and continues to be on 27.2RC. So I don't know if I'm doing something right or others are doing something wrong.Score: 6 Votes (Like | Disagree)drunkaviator15 hours ago at 12:41 pm

I think this is their marketing people getting ahead of the actual engineering to tout features which they clearly aren’t ready deliver -- totally putting the cart before the horse.

IMO the marketers should take a back seat and be quiet until the product managers tell them features are actually ready to ship.

All of this is driven by the yearly iPhone/iOS release cycles, which of course macOS is now dragged into because of how tightly it’s tied into iOS. 100% agree. Apple has always been driven by great marketing, but I always felt under Phil Schiller that it was tightly woven into what the design / engineering teams were doing, and with Steve's guidance and unique way of selling you on an idea. When you look back to that era, it was phenomenal marketing. Now it's just...increasingly grating. Apple needs to relearn patience and surprise.Score: 5 Votes (Like | Disagree)BBöhme41716 hours ago at 11:16 am

I hope they improve things because the whole iOS 27 release cycle has been as bad as iOS 26 🙁 Even the brand new 18 Pros stutters/lags regardless of the new vapor chamber. That hasn’t been my experience. Yes, it still needs some polish and refinement, but I’d say it’s way better than 26 was.
