Franchise Recruitment GEO: An Analysis of the New Customer Acquisition Logic for Franchise Brands in the AI Era

Franchise recruitment marketing is shifting from search bidding and feed ads to GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), with the goal of ensuring that brand facts are accurately mentioned and reasonably recommended in generative Q&A systems such as DeepSeek, Doubao, Tongyi Qianwen, ERNIE Bot, Kimi, and ChatGPT. The article compares the business logic of three models—search advertising, feed advertising, and GEO—and points out that GEO competes on the quality of facts and the credibility of information sources, not on advertising budgets. To judge whether a GEO service provider is reliable, it is recommended to prepare 20 to 50 real franchise recruitment questions and require an on-site demonstration of multi-model queries, brand mentions, cited sources, and erroneous information identification.

NVIDIA Releases OpenShell Reference Architecture to Provide Security and Governance for Large-Scale AI Agent Workloads

NVIDIA has released the OpenShell reference architecture, using an open-source runtime to treat agent workloads as untrusted objects and grant access on demand. The architecture consists of four components: Gateway, Supervisor, Sandbox, and Policy Prover, which are responsible for sandbox lifecycle and policy management, credential access brokering, workload isolation, and formal verification of policy permissions, respectively. CoreWeave's measurements show that on Vera CPUs, sandbox startup is more than 3 times faster than on x86, agent loops complete 1.8 times faster, and a single rack can support more than 11,000 concurrent agent environments.

A comparison of NVIDIA Vera (green) against x86 (gray). Left chart shows sandbox startup speed in sandboxes per second, with Vera more than 3x higher than x86. Right chart shows per-task relative performance across 20 agentic loop tasks, with Vera bars consistently above the x86 baseline of 1.0, reaching up to 2x on tasks such as cobol-modernization, fix-git, db-wal-recovery, and openssl-selfsigned-cert. Geometric mean advantage: 1.8x.

Vitals: A More Intuitive Mac System Monitoring App Than Activity Monitor

Vitals is a system monitoring app for macOS that consolidates metrics such as CPU, memory, GPU, disk, network, and battery into a single window, and groups process resource usage by app, making it more intuitive than the built-in Activity Monitor. It provides an MCP service that supports AI assistants like Claude, Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor in reading system data and analyzing hardware issues. The app uses a one-time purchase model, currently priced at $9 on the official website, with a regular price of $39.

“Sound Glow”: Apple’s new light-sync feature is coming to older HomePods

Apple’s “Sound Glow” light-sync feature will arrive on HomePod 2 and the first-generation HomePod mini with HomePod Software 27.2; previously, the feature was limited to the HomePod mini 2. The feature makes the LED on top of the speaker glow to the rhythm of the music, with colors inspired by album artwork, and it also supports podcasts and Ambient Sound. 27.2 also adds a touch-interaction lock, which can alleviate the “ghost music” accidental-playback problem on the first-generation HomePod mini.

Developers use AI reverse engineering to run iOS 16 on Android phones such as Redmi

Developer dipa-studio successfully booted and ran iOS 16.7.16 on a Redmi Note 10 Pro, able to enter the home screen, operate Settings and Control Center, and subsequently similar demonstrations appeared on devices such as the Redmi Note 12, Nothing Phone, and OnePlus 12. The porting process extensively used Claude and Codex to write driver adaptation code, and a reverse-engineering tool REA that automatically analyzes hardware interfaces also emerged. In the current version, cellular network, Bluetooth, camera, and speaker are all unavailable; GPU hardware acceleration has not been made to work, causing lag; booting takes 4 minutes; code signing verification and sandbox restrictions have also been relaxed; it is only suitable for early-adopter demonstrations.

Jellyfish data: coding agents already write 22% of PRs, but nearly all require human review

Jellyfish's analysis of data from about 300,000 engineers at 1,300 companies shows that at the median enterprise, autonomous coding agents have already written 22% of merged PRs, up from 18% a month earlier, with the top 10% of companies reaching 53%. However, the median share of PRs independently reviewed and merged by agents is only 0.6%, and 9% for the top 10%, with human review remaining the main bottleneck. The author also notes that the abandonment rate for agent-submitted PRs is 40%, versus 20% for humans, and that the number of human reviews per merged agent PR has more than doubled over the past year.

Mass General Brigham team publishes FAHR-Face study in The Lancet Digital Health, using facial photos to predict mortality risk in cancer patients

The U.S. Mass General Brigham health care system developed the FAHR-Face model, which identifies differences in mortality risk among cancer patients using only a single facial photograph; the study was published on October 20 in The Lancet Digital Health. Among 3,820 cancer patients who did not participate in training, 64 of the 122 people rated by the model as extremely high risk died within 90 days after the photo was taken, while only 20 of the 975 people with scores between 0 and 0.1 died, a rate of 2.1%. The study also conducted external validation using 4,892 patients at the Maastro radiotherapy center in the Netherlands and obtained similar results, but the model cannot yet be used directly in clinical practice.
